Course description:
Environmental toxicology is the study of the nature, properties, effects and the detection of toxic substances in the environment and in any environmentally exposed species, including humans.
This course will provide a general understanding of toxicology related to the environment. Fundamental concepts will be covered including dose-response relationships, absorption of toxicants, distribution and storage of toxicants, biotransformation and elimination of toxicants, target organ toxicity, teratogenesis, mutagenesis, carcinogenesis and risk assessment. In the second part of the course, we will study the chemodynamics of contaminants in the environment including fate and transport. The course will examine chemicals of environmental interest and how they are tested and regulated. We will critically review case studies and special topics.
目的/Goal of this course:
The purpose of this course is to give a good overview of environmental toxicology. The emphasis will be on the effects of environmental pollutants on humans. It will cover important principles that govern why certain substances are environmental hazards. It will also cover basic toxicology allowing student to understand why substances are toxic and how toxicity is measured in the laboratory and field. Specific substances relevant to this field of study will be discussed such as acid rain, ozone, organic nutrients, pesticides, metals, PCBs, and petroleum. Meantime, I will introduce you some environmental problems that happened in the world recently.
Based on the learning of basic knowledge, to incubate students with the research & creative ability. 环境毒理学是利用毒理学方法研究环境污染物对人体健康的影响及其机理的学科,是环境医学的一个组成部分,也是毒理学的一个分支。 环境污染物对机体的作用一般具有下列特点:接触剂量较小;长时间内反复接触甚至终生接触;多种环境污染物同时作用于机体;接触的人群既有青少年和成年人,又有老幼病弱,易感性差异极大。 课程特色: 利用双语授课,在熟练掌握基础知识的同时,加强研究型和创新型人才培养。启发式、研究型教学是本课程的重要特色。 本课程主要讲授: (1). 环境毒理学的基本概念、理论和方法; (2). 环境污染物及其在机体中的传输、转化与机体相互作用的一般规律,包括毒物在体内的吸收、分布和排泄等生物转运过程和代谢转化等生物转化过程,剂量-反应关系等; (3). 毒物化学结构和毒性以及影响毒作用的各种有关因素; (4). 环境污染物及其转化产物对人体的致突变、致癌变、致畸变等的特殊毒性作用与机理; (5). 环境污染物的毒性评定方法,包括急性、亚急性和慢性毒性试验,代谢试验,蓄积试验,繁殖试验,致突变、致畸、致癌变试验等; (6). 各种污染物对人体损害作用的早发现、早防治的理论和措施等;(7). 国内外环境毒理学的国内外研究现状、国际前沿讲座和研究方法介绍。 |
